A long-overdue catch-up...

What I’ve been listening to…

Five Writers Five Minutes…

This new-ish writing podcast packs so much good info into bite-sized pieces that are easy to listen to. With Deb Abela, Tristan Bancks, Sarah Armstrong, Zanni Louise, and Lian Tanner, it’s a literal brains trust of established writers in the children’s literature space ready to answer all the questions. How good is that!

Shameless podcast…

Self-described as a podcast for smart people who love dumb stuff, Shameless is hosted by Melbourne writers Michelle Andrews and Zara McDonald who formed their own media company to bring their podcasts to the world. The multi-part ‘Scandal’ episodes are what initially drew me in, but I now also enjoy their pop-culture catch-ups, too.

What I’m Reading…

I’ll Let Myself In by Hannah Diviney

I’ve followed Hannah on Instagram for a little while now and really enjoy hearing what she she has to say online and in panel appearances. I also really enjoyed the show she was in called Latecomers, an absolute game-changer when it comes to representation of people with disabilities on Australian TV. And diving in to her first book, I’m enjoying her thoughtful perspective and beautiful writing just as much as I’d hoped I would.

What I’m Watching…

One Day on Netflix

Over a decade ago, I randomly picked up a copy of One Day when I popped into a little bookshop by the sea in Positano in Italy. I was out of reading material and knew nothing about it and surprised myself by devouring it. We also went to Edinburgh on this trip so just like Emma and Dex, I walked up Arthur’s Seat.

While a little underwhelmed with the recent film version, I’m really enjoying the Netflix series but am a little slow getting the time to get through it which isn’t a bad thing, as when it’s over, it’s over!
